Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at heather@brackenbloomcounselling.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A RPN Psychotherapist is a Registered Practical Nurse with specialized training in mental health. Drawing on my nursing background, I provide holistic, patient-centered care that supports your emotional, physical, and psychological well-being, integrating therapeutic techniques to help you heal and thrive.

Somatic therapy is a gentle, mind–body (holistic) approach to therapy that recognizes how stress, anxiety, and our past experiences, traumas are stored not just in our thoughts, but also in our bodies. So in somatic therapy, instead of only talking about what’s happening, it helps you notice physical sensations like tension, breath, or restlessness, and uses various techniques to support nervous system regulation. By working with both mind and body, this approach can help you feel calmer, more grounded, and better able to respond to life’s challenges as you approch them throughout.

Bracken Bloom Counselling & Psychotherapy can help you with a wide range of mental health concerns including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, major life transitions, and stress management. We are not afraid to talk about the difficult things. I will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your unique individual needs and goals.

Many private coverage plans cover psychotherapy or counselling services. However, every plan is different; it is important to check with your specific provider to confirm your coverage and reimbursement options. It is important to note that some insurance companies will only cover a registered psychotherapist, that is with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or College of Social Work at this time.

The cost of counseling services at Bracken Bloom Counselling & Psychotherapy varies depending on the type of service you need. Please refer to booking link to see availability and fees, sliding scale may be applicable.

The frequency of counseling sessions with Bracken Bloom Counselling & Psychotherapy will depend on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend bi-weekly or monthly. Healing and growing is a journey, it's important to be patient with ourselves.

FEES / INSURANCE

Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that I am covered under your specific insurance plan if you have private coverage. I encourage you to consult with your insurance before booking your first clinical session at Bracken Bloom Counselling, especially if you are seeking help with anxiety or women's mental health. I am registered with The College of Nurses of Ontario, with the registration number BC759130. It's important to remember that some insurance companies will only cover services provided by a registered psychotherapist who is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Therefore, please speak with your insurance provider if you have questions about your coverage.
